Before we proceed to new topics, let us deal with Matthew 23:23, Jesus was teaching about the procedures of obedience to the laws and commandments of GOD. He aligned them in the order of preference and importance. Namely: Judgement : Mercy:
Faith. After the adherence to these three, then come payments of tithes, Not before the observance and performance of these three.
Judgement: means equity, fairness and righteousness.
Mercy: refers to forgiveness, humilty and loving-kindness.
Faith: is Trust-worthiness, honesty, and obedience.
Payment of tithes, without observation and performance of these three is an exercise in futility. Adherence to the law of tithing alone is tantamount to a useless religious activities. GOD can never be mocked.
Furthermore , Jesus spoke about the general importance of the law, Mathew 5:17" Think not I am come to destroy the law,or the prophets:i am not come to destroy, but to fulfill". So the law is sacrosanct and Jesus never said we should not pay tithes, because he came not to remove or disregards the laws of GOD,(he only changed the laws of Moses, as it concerns divorce and revenge),but to fulfill as I have mentioned above, that the every laws of GOD, MUST be observed in Judgement,in Mercy and in Faith.
That's is the fulfillment of the laws.
All the Laws are everlasting, Mathew 5:18
"For verily I say unto you,Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one little shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled "
Therefore, the law is permanent and sacrosanct. If we find it difficult to pay tithes l, how then can we claim to love GOD? And we are also saying that we don't want meat to be in GOD'S house. Are we not commanded to Love the LORD our GOD, with All our heart, soul and mind? Mathew 22:37.
Therefore, let's endeavour to be doers of the word and not hearers only.
